The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) held a recognition event to honour its Learning Partners, Working Group members, and Facilitators involved in OSH training. The event serves as a testament to the joint national efforts made at the national level to promote basic Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) awareness across workplaces among Government, Employers, and Workers.
This initiative supports SHENA’s mission to strengthen workplace safety culture, advancing the understanding of HSE requirements, and fostering the reporting of safety concerns. It aligns with Wawasan Brunei 2035 by promoting a high quality of life and world-class health and safety standards. Furthermore, this initiative is consistent with the principles outlined in the ILO Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention 2006 and contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals that focus on decent work, economic growth, health, and wellbeing.
The initiative serves to strengthen the collaboration among government, employers, and workers, aligning with Brunei Darussalam’s aspiration to remain a safe place to work and live. Meanwhile, SHENA’s Workplace Safety and Health Compliance and Performance report for 2024 continues to demonstrate that workplace accidents are preventable and that a fundamental understanding of HSE principles is vital in mitigating risks.
